Project overview
Adyen's finance tools give two groups the same view of payouts, balances, deposits and reports: Adyen's own Operational Finance team, and the accounting and treasury teams at its enterprise merchants.
I redesigned the payout, balance and liability workflows, reworked the information architecture and moved the product onto the new design system. The headline result: merchants can now change their payout model and schedule themselves instead of contacting support — removing 1,400+ support tickets a year.

Challenges
- 01
Getting the right people in the room
Finance products touch many teams, and the hard part was making sure the right voices shaped decisions. With mentoring from design leads and our head of product design, I learned to run focused reviews that stress-tested ideas early — good and bad.
- 02
Designing in the open
I started out working too much in isolation. Adyen's culture is radically open, so I switched to sharing work early and often in design reviews — which sped up feedback and made me part of the team faster.
- 03
Shipping in phases
Our first launch was delayed by aiming for a perfect v1 — and still fell short. We switched to releasing in phases and refining with real merchant feedback, which made each release faster and better.
